Located on the east side of Georgian Bay, The Municipality of French River is a collection of small villages and towns with a Provincial Park and river of the same name.
One of Canada’s Heritage Routes, the French River is a historically significant waterway. Cruise your boat, paddle your canoe or kayak through the French River Provincial Park, following the path of the voyageur. Drop a line, and test your luck at some of the area’s great catch, before retiring to one of the backcountry campsites, lodges or cottages that dot the shoreline.
While in the area, be sure to visit the French River Visitor Centre, just off highway 69. Weave your way through time as you learn about the history of Canada’s first heritage river. Follow the trail to scenic Recollet Falls, and enjoy the view of the gorge atop the suspension bridge.
