Day 1

Travel to Collingwood today, where you’ll take in the Nottawasaga Island Lighthouse, one of six Imperial Towers.   The lighthouse can be viewed from a distance, while standing on shore, or travel to the island by private boat or kayak if the weather and wind direction is satisfactory. Once you’re finished make a stop at the Harbourlands Park in Collingwood. This park dons memorial plaques in memory of the shipbuilders who spent most of their lives building the huge grain carrying ships that travel the great lakes.  Next stop – the Collingwood Museum – to learn the story of Collingwood’s shipyard, native and transportation history.

Day 2

This morning you’ll travel to Wasaga Beach, home of the world’s longest freshwater beach and the Nancy Island Historic Site.  Here you’ll find the original hull of the HMS Nancy, sunk by the British Commander in the Nottawasaga Harbour in 1814.  Next you’re traveling to Midland and Penetanguishene were you’ll take a 30,000 Island Cruise aboard one of the local tour boats.  After visit the Lighthouse Store to browse the selection of nautical treasures.

Day 3

This morning you’re off to view the Christian Island Lighthouse.  Take the ferry from the Cedar Point to the island, where you’ll find this Imperial Tower, first lit in 1859. While the lighthouse itself is not accessible, you can view it from the outside.  Back on shore, you’ll travel to Discovery Harbour to view the replica 19th century community and British ships located on scenic Penetanguishene Bay.  At the end of the day, spend one more night in Midland or Penetanguishene, or travel to Port Severn to be closer to tomorrow’s activities.

Day 4

Today you’re traveling to Georgian Bay Islands National Park for some hiking and the chance to view two more Georgian Bay lighthouses.  Pack a picnic lunch and head for Honey Harbour where you’ll take the Daytripper water taxi to Beausoleil Island.  To view the front range, Brebeuf Island Light from afar, hike the Huron Trail from the water taxi access across the island to pick up the northern segment of the Georgian Trail on Beausoleil Island.  You’ll find the rear range Beausoleil Island Light Range located ¼ mile east of Brebeuf Island, on the west shore of Beausoleil Island.
