Georgian Bay Welcomes You

Midland /Penetanguishene

The towns of Midland and Penetanguishene are located on the southern shore of Georgian Bay, just a 90 minute drive from Toronto. Overlooking Severn Sound, the area is part of the 30,000 islands. Enjoy the spectacular scenery that Georgian Bay has to offer aboard a site-seeing cruise on the Miss Midland, or the M.S. Georgian Queen.

A community steeped in history, Midland/Penetanguishene is the site of several cultural attractions. Midland is home to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons, a recreation of a 17th century Jesuit village and Martyr’s Shrine, a tribute to the Jesuit saints who brought Christianity to Canada over 350 years ago. Nestled at the mouth of Penetanguishene Harbour is Discovery Harbour, a recreation of a 19th century British naval base. Flanked by these majestic tall ships and historic buildings, Drayton Entertainment offers live theatre from the Kings Warf Theatre.

Take a step back in time at the area cultural attractions, or simply stroll the streets and take in the turn of the century homes, unique boutiques and larger than life murals that have been painted throughout the community.

For the outdoor enthusiast, the Wye Marsh and nearby Awenda Provincial Park offer plenty of exploring.
