Located on the southwest shores of Georgian Bay, the Owen Sound area stretches from Wiarton in the west all the way to Meaford in the East.
Sitting at the mouth of the Owen Sound Bay, built in the valley of the Niagara Escarpment, the city of Owen Sound is often called the Scenic City. The charming and historic town of Meaford offers scenic views of Georgian Bay at the mouth of the Big Head River, framed with a view of the Blue Mountains in the background. Wiarton, the home of Wiarton Willie the famous groundhog , also sits by the shores on beautiful Colpoy’s Bay.
Hike the Bruce Trail, Canada’s longest footpath. The Georgian Bay portion stretches from the Blue Mountains, winding its way through the Beaver Valley, Owen Sound and Wiarton, ending at the terminus in Tobermory. Many a stop along the trail affords breathtaking views of Georgian Bay.
Photograph a waterfall, paddle the shoreline, canoe the rivers, or simply go exploring! A short 20 minute drive away, you will find Sauble Beach, with its 11 kilometers of golden sand and inviting warm waters. When the summer turns to fall, revel in the magnificent colour in the Beaver Valley stopping to savour the apple harvest along the way.
