Tom Thomson Art Gallery
The Tom Thomson Art Gallery is a regional art centre and national cultural attraction dedicated to the innovative spirit of landscape artist and Canadian icon, Tom Thomson. The Gallery celebrates excellence in the visual arts through exhibitions of historical and contemporary art, education programs promoting life-long learning, and the enrichment and interpretation of its significant permanent collection (including pieces by the Group of Seven, Cornelius Krieghoff, Carl Beam, David Milne and Edward Burtynsky to name a few).
Upcoming in 2011: Judy Chicago: Setting the Table
Preparatory works from world renowned artist Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party (which is a permanent installation at the Brooklyn Museum) and a Gala Dinner Party at Cobble Beach. Ms. Chicago will be giving a talk at the OSCVI auditorium on May 14, 2011.
Tom Thomson Experience Gallery
A new and permanent exhibition that will give visitors a multi-sensory, educational and entertaining introduction into Tom Thomson’s life and the factors that led him to become one of Canada’s greatest artists. The Experience will make use of The TOM’s important collection of objects, photos, documents and artworks by Thomson.
