Day 2

Today, you’ll travel north along the Georgian Bay shore of the Bruce Peninsula.  Your first stop will be at the Lion’s Head Lighthouse in the village by the same name.  Head for the marina, where you’ll find the replica lighthouse built by local highschool students in 1983, from the plans for the original lighthouse built in 1903.  Next stop – Cabot Head - where a meandering narrow road leads you to this picturesque lighthouse & museum.  View the artifacts in the restored keeper’s dwelling and climb to the lantern room for a view over Georgian Bay.  (Open May 1 to Thanksgiving weekend, 9am – sunset).  When finished, continue on your way to Tobermory, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 3

Hit the water today and go exploring.  Book a glass bottom boat tour to Flowerpot Island, and enjoy the scenery while you tour Fathom Five, Canada’s first National Marine Park.  Once on Flowerpot Island, make the trek to the former light-keeper’s quarters and stand atop White Bluff where the lighthouse once stood.  When you’re finished exploring, board the boat back to the harbour and make your way to the Parks Canada Visitor Centre and climb the look-out tower for a bird’s eye view of Georgian Bay before heading inside to view the exhibits, including a fabricated replica lighthouse and flowerpot.  Finish up your day at the Big Tub Lighthouse, which has been guarding the entrance to Big Tub Harbour since 1883.  (If you wish to continue your lighthouse tour, consider travelling from here down the coast of Lake Huron.  Visit www.brucecoastlighthouses.com for more details).
