Day 3

This morning, you’ll find yourself immersed in learning at Science North. Internationally renowned for its hands on learning approach and personal touch, the staff (known as the “Bluecoats”) will fill have you experiencing science is a fun and imaginative way. When you’ve had your fill of science fun, pack up and make your way to Manitoulin Island where you’ll stop for the night along the northern side of the island.

Day 4

Today you’re sight-seeing on Manitoulin Island, the world’s largest freshwater island. If you’re feeling energetic, your first stop is the Cup & Saucer Bluff for a hike to a magnificent lookout over Georgian Bay. Next you’ll visit Kagawong’s cascading Bridal Veil Falls. Finally you’re on your way to Providence Bay, for a visit to its crescent shaped sand beach before you stop for the night along the southern shore of the island. Day 5

Set sail on the Chi-Cheemaun this morning for Tobermory and the beautiful Bruce Peninsula. Once you arrive, make your way to Little Tub Harbour and reserve your spot on a glass bottom boat ride to Flowerpot Island. Your cruise will take you exploring the shipwrecks that lie below the surface of Fathom Five National Marine Park, as you make your way to Flowerpot to view the magnificent sea-stacks. Back ashore, be sure to visit the Parks Canada Visitor Centre and climb the lookout tower for a bird’s eye view over Georgian Bay, before relaxing for the night.

Make your way down the peninsula today, before making your way west for a visit to Sauble Beach. Although it sits on nearby Lake Huron, the world’s second longest freshwater beach, previously voted number one beach in Ontario is not to be missed. Owen Sound, the scenic city, is the perfect place to spend the night tonight.

This morning you find out why Owen Sound is called the “scenic city”. First stop – Harrison Park – where 100 year old trees and a meandering river invite you to go for a walk, a hike or simply relax and watch the children play. Next, just up the road, you’ll find Inglis Falls where the Sydenham River cascades over limestone shelves on its way to the Bay. Enjoy the scenic view over Owen Sound or go for a hike on the network of trails. Finally, end your day by making your way to Collingwood where you’ll spend the night.

Today, plan to visit Scenic Caves Nature Adventures. Explore the labyrinth of caves carved out of the Niagara Escarpment. Venture across Ontario’s longest suspension footbridge for a view 300 feet above Georgian Bay. Then you’re off to Blue Mountain, an Intrawest resort to enjoy the village shopping or dining. Travelling with family – spend the afternoon at Plunge! aqua centre. Just the two of you? Enjoy the ultimate relaxation at Le Scandinave spa instead.

Wasaga Beach is your destination this morning, with a visit to the world’s longest freshwater beach. Wasaga boasts 14 km of white sand and clear blue Georgian Bay water for splashing about. When you’re finished soaking up the rays, travel to Midland/Penetanguishene where you’ll spend the night.

Day 10

History lives in Midland, and you’ll learn about it with a visit to Saint-Marie among the Hurons. Experience the interaction between the first European settlers and the area natives. Then, journey next door for a visit to Martyrs’ Shrine. Majestically overlooking the Wye River, the Shrine pays tribute to Jesuit saints who brought Christianity to Canada over 350 years ago. (Please note, Martyrs’ Shrine is host to pilgrimages most weekends of the summer. If you prefer a quieter visit, check the website calendar, or plan to attend mid-week.)
